2013 Anarchism Calender Out Now! We are delighted to present the CIRA Japana 7th anarchism calendar. For the year 2013, the CIRA Japana Calendar Collective features Sakae Ōsugi, Noe Itō and Munekazu Tachibana as the year 2013 marks 90th anniversary of the killing of the couple Ōsugi and Itō and their 6 year-old nephew Munekazu by the Japanese military police amidst the aftermath of Great Kanto Earthquake.
You will see historic pictures and stories telling us their vibrant and extraordinary life for each month. English profiles of Ōsugi, Itō and Tachibana are annexed in the last page. We hope people who are interested in the anarchist movement in Japan enjoy the calendar.

「アフガン潜入を果たした初の日本人女性カメラマン」そのような表現で取り上げられることの多い南條ではあるが、実は大阪・釜ヶ崎、横浜・寿町と いった寄せ場に関わり、撮影対象として日雇労働者の街「山谷」に対峙し続けていたことはあまり知られていない。というのもそこは、南條にとってみればのた うち転げ回った場所でもあるからだった。

「都市論の現在形のために ― 戦術、築層、メトロポリス ―」
いまだ記憶に新しいウォール街占拠に見られるように、“occupation（占拠）”は、今日の社会運動の中心的な戦術となっている。この“occupation（占拠）”を都市空間論的に捉え返し、都市における集合的表象と集合的身体の今日的な結合を分析している翻訳家・批評家の高祖岩三郎氏と、2名の若手建築家からなるユニット「co-op/t」、いずれもニューヨーク在住の3名をお招きして講演いただく。日時 2012年8月26日（日）14:00～17:00

高祖岩三郎氏（翻訳家・批評家）
1955年生まれ、ニューヨーク在住。1982年ニューヨーク大学芸術学部修士課程修了。柄谷行人氏の著書の英訳などの他に『ニューヨーク列伝―闘う世界民衆の都市空間』（青土社・2006）、『流体都市を構築せよ！―世界民衆都市ニューヨークの形成』（青土社・2007）など著書多数。
co-op/t（ラミア・ベンスーダ氏、エッサン・バンダイ氏）
ニューヨーク在住の2名の建築家からなるユニットで、建築家としてのキャリアの傍らGlobal Justice運動などに実践的、理論的に関与してきた。

「Art & Activism 芸術の新たな可能性 芸術と直接行動の出会い」
スライドショー＋お話：朴恩宣（パク・ウンソン）(Listen to the City)8月3日（金） 19時～
ゼネラル・ストライキ コリアの企画メンバーでもあり、「Listen to the City」というアーティストユニットで活動をしている朴恩宣（パク・ウンソン）さんが、日本の展示会に参加することになりました。そこで8月3日、展示を開くIRREGULAR RHYTHM ASYLUMにて「Art & Activism」というタイトルでウンソンさんの韓国での活動やゼネストについての話しをしてもらうことになりました。
「Listen to the City」について
2007年にアーティストユニット「Listen to the City」は結成され、2009年から本格的な活動を始めます。メンバーは映像作家、建築家、グラフィックデザイナーなど各分野のクリエイターからなる総勢5名編成のユニット。「都市に耳を傾けよ」という名の通り、韓国政府、企業が進める都市開発事業によって自然環境が破壊されている地域、ニュータウン・再開発により強制撤去の対象となった場所を訪ね現状をリサーチしながら問題解決のため様々なプロジェクトを立ちあげています。彼らの活動は多岐にわたり、都市に関する作品を集めた映画祭、再開発地区の写真展、アナーキーセミナー、都市開発の歴史を語り合うソウルツアー、カンジョン村海軍基建設地反対のゲリラパフォーマンスなどを企画からデザインまで手がけています。こういったプロジェクトを通し多くの人々に現在進行中の都市計画の問題について共に考える「場」をつくっています。現在、彼らは韓国政府が莫大な資金を投じて進めている国家プロジェクト「4大河川事業」に反対する運動をしています。ソウル中心部に「モレ」という箱型の展示スペースを設置し、「4大河川事業」永住ダム建設により水没予定地となった乃城川（ネソンチョン）の周辺地域に住む人々のコミュニティや自然環境が失われようとしている現状を多くの人々に伝える活動を行っています。

Olkiluoto Blockade Sat 11 Aug
and Nuclear Camp 6-13 Aug, 2012 in Finland!
From uranium mining to nuclear waste storage, nuclear power poses a health risk to current and future generations alike. We refuse to be part of this costly and dangerous experiment which mainly serves the interests of big industry. We therefore demand a nuclear power phase-out.
On August 11, people are going to block the roads to Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Eurajoki. Previous years have seen people blocking the roads using banners, drumming, performances and peaceful civil disobedience.
You can join the demonstration in any way you like, with no obligation to participate in civil disobedience. Make sure not to bring with you anything that could be classed as a weapon. No alcohol or drugs in the demonstration. Everyone is asked to refrain from any form of violence, sexism, racism and provocations.
This year the action day is preceded by an international anti-nuclear camp, held at a local farmhouse. The camp program includes practical and informative workshops, such as the current situation of Japan's nuclear disaster and introducing the movement against mining in Finland. The guest speakers, documentaries and workshops during the week will illustrate the international anti-nuclear movement and provide skills and tools for local campaigning.
There will be a special program for kids, and babysitting help available. As well as yummy vegan food, sauna, crafting, live bands and sharing struggles for a nuclear free future!

Celebrate People's History 1: Seki Ran Kai (Justseeds Blog)
I've now been organizing the Celebrate People's History poster series for over 15 years, and have printed almost 80 different posters. In order to add another layer of depth to the project, I have been asking the poster artists and designers to send me texts about what inspired them, sketches, and source photos. I hope to post these insights into specific posters of a semi-regular basis.
This first post is about the recently printed Seki Ran Kai poster, designed and written by Keisuke Narita and illustrated by Red Eye. Keisuke, one of the driving forces behind Tokyo's Irregular Rhythm Asylum, sent me the following text about the poster:
This piece is dedicated to our dear comrade Chinami Kondo, who passed away on June 20, 2010.
Born in Tokyo in 1941, Chinami was a courageous activist and organizer who fought for women’s rights and democracy. As the daughter of Magara Kondo and Kenji Kondo, she was also the caretaker of important documents from the anarchist movement’s earliest days at the dawn of the twentieth century. These documents have been preserved and safeguarded until today thanks to her. Magara Kondo, the daughter of the socialist Toshihiko Sakai, was a member of the Sekirankai (Red Wave Society) and trailblazing feminist activist. Kenji had been a comrade of Sakae Osugi and Noe Ito, and he continued to organize as an anarchist after the war. In 2003 around the time the war on Iraq began, young anarchists who took inspiration from the Sekirankai’s courageous protests made replicas of this Sekirankai flag and carried them in the streets at antiwar demos. Chinami was there with them, and she continued to carry the flag at antiwar, May Day, and countless other demos. Although she was effervescent and keen to dance when sharing drinks with friends, she walked quietly at demos. With each step, she must have thought not only of her comrades but also of her parents and their friends. Her quietly marching figure was beautiful to behold.And here is the source image for the illustration:
